examine it for shaping and tight even stitching.
Do not choose a rug with large loose stitches or
an uneven center or ragged edges with revealing
fabric strips. The ideal size for fabric strips
used in crocheted rugs is 1-1/2 inches wide;
they should definitely not be more than 2 inches
wide. In order for the rug to lie flat, there
must be a consistent increase pattern. Standard
crocheted rugs must be worked in rounds of
stitching and contain a single crochet stitch.
They can be created in various shapes and sizes,
from the more traditional rounds and ovals to
the more modern squares, rectangles, hearts,
half-rounds, multiple or hollow centers, as well
as freeform shapes.
Lightweight Crocheted Runners: These rugs are
normally single crocheted (the double crochet is
too loose for rug construction). They can be
made using other crochet stitches such as the
urchin stitch and attached double crochet. They
are made with strips about 3/4 inches wide and

though they are crocheted because some are made
with fancy stitches, which tends to make the

fact, some can look knitted, even though they
have been crocheted. There will be many
different types of looks to these rugs depending
on the stitches that were used.
Cross Woven Crocheted Rugs are made by
crocheting a filet mesh. The fabric strips are
then weaved through the mesh in both directions.
These types of rugs are lightweight and can be
